From Mukesh Ambani to Riteish Deshmukh, here are 4 Indians who own a Tesla
Tesla cars are a good example of what our future could look like. Coming from the mind of the genius Elon Musk, these all electric cars have become very popular across the globe. These all-electric cars look great and what's more, they can fit into the affordably-priced luxury car slab. However, if import duties are to be considered, the price of these babies shoot right up. Sadly, the brand has not made its way to Indian shores despite several attempts made by the CEO. But that hasn't stopped certain Indian celebrities from getting their hands on these electric cars to see what the buzz is all about. Check out who these four Indians are and which Tesla cars they own.

When you're the richest man in the country, no luxury is unaffordable. His uber luxurious house, Antilia, has a multi-storey garage with space for over 168 cars. And among all Rolls Royces, Bentleys and Mercedes, sits a Tesla Model S. This car, which the business tycoon bought last year, is a pretty powerful piece of machinery. The motors on the Model S are strong enough to generate 423 PS of power and a massive 660 Nm. It has a top speed of 250 kms/hour and can cover 495 kms on a single charge. Moreover, Mukesh Ambani's Tesla can go from 0-100 kms/hour within a matter 4.3 seconds. Perfect for all those times he wants to rush out without creating chaos.

For the actor's 40th birthday, Riteish Deshmukh's wife got him a present that made him "feel like a 20-year-old". She gifted him with a red Tesla Model X, making him the only Bollywood star to own this beauty. This car is a seven-seater and is capable of going from 0-100 kms/ hour in 3.2 seconds. On a single charge, the Tesla Model X can cover a distance of about 475 kms. What sets the Model X apart from the others on Tesla's roster is its ample storage space and those sexy falcon-wing doors. Considering all this and the fact that it's electric and eco-friendly, makes Tesla Model X the perfect family car.

In case you are unaware, Prashant Ruia, who is the CEO of the Essar Conglomerate, was the first person to own a Tesla in India. He owns the same model as Deshmukh, but his Model X is painted a cool blue colour. Ruia's Model X was privately imported in 2017. Moreover, the Model X is the fastest electric SUV in the world. It uses 2 electric motors, out of which one powers the front wheels while the second drives the rear.

The latest entrant to the list of Tesla owners in India is former Bollywood actress Pooja Batra. However, she bought the car while she has been living in Los Angeles, which excludes her from paying the heavy import duty, like the others on the list. Her new Tesla Model 3 is the most affordable and the most popular car in the company's line-up and is registered in America itself. On a single charge, the Model 3 can travel up to 386 kms/hour on a single charge. It's top speed is capped at 200 kms and it can go from 0-100 within 5 seconds. This car also offers a huge infotainment system as well as an auto-pilot and self-park mode.
